I wanted to provide you all an update on the ongoing work on our next Focus on the Future Plan, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commissions strategic plan.
The current Focus on the Future (FoF) plan will expire at the end of the year, so a new one needs to be put into place. Many of you have been involved in past Focus on the Future plans in reviewing and writing sections for divisions and your areas of expertise.
Administration and Division Administrators have been reviewing our current plan and thinking about what our next FoF plan should look like. We discussed the structure of the current plan, and if it was pertinent for various audiences (staff, commissioners, general public, legislature, partners, etc). We’ve made the determination that our next Focus on the Future plan will be a higher level strategic plan, providing broad vision and direction. Tactical plans for implementation to meet key objectives can then be developed annually.
We have also researched other state’s strategic plans and have developed a framework and structure for our next FoF plan. We have been meeting monthly to create the framework, which will be shared across the agency for review and input. We felt that it was going to be advantageous to all that we provide a working draft of the new FoF prior to sharing for review.
You will be receiving an email with a draft of the new FoF plan in the near future from Michelle Stryker, Planning & Programming Division Administrator. We will be asking you to review the current draft plan and to share your thoughts and comments up through your division to your Division Administrator. We will take this to our Board of Commissioners for approval in October, so your timely input will be important to share in the next couple of months.
The work you do for our agency is important and the service you provide for us is outstanding! We look forward to your review and input to help shape NGPC’s future.
