The agency is adjusting safety protocols as more people receive a COVID-19 vaccine. We continue to encourage all employees to get a vaccine. This is the best tool to keep the virus under control.
The agency will continue to consider CDC and local health department recommendations as we move into this next phase of the pandemic. If positivity rates begin to rise again, these protocols will be reevaluated to address the situation, and we will notify staff of any changes. The following protocols take effect Monday, May 24, 2021*.
Existing protocols will remain in effect through Sunday. (*City of Omaha mask mandate expires Tuesday, May 25. These protocols take effect following the expiration of that mandate in Omaha.)
Safety Protocols Remaining
Increased air filtration systems will remain in use in our office locations and lodging facilities.
Masks, gloves and other PPE inventory will be maintained and available for staff
Engineering controls like plexi-glass dividers will remain in place
Hand sanitizing stations will continue to be available
Increased disinfection protocols will remain in place
Signs encouraging the public to wear masks have been provided to park offices and district offices
Stay Home if you are Sick
Employees should continue to stay home if they are sick. If you have symptoms of COVID-19 or known exposure to someone with COVID-19, please notify your supervisor and stay home.
Remote work Agreements
Agreements for work from home situations are being reviewed in the month of May. Any new agreements will be put into place in June 2021 and must be mutually beneficial to the agency and the employee. It is expected that the majority of staff will return to working in the office at least part time beginning in June.
Exceptions to the above, related to COVID-19, will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and determined by agreement between Administration and the Division.
FULLY Vaccinated** Employees
No masks will be required unless employees are within close proximity to the public while working indoors or outdoors.
**Fully vaccinated means:
Employee has received one shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine or two shots of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine and two weeks has passed since the final vaccine.
Employees Not Vaccinated
Employees who are not fully vaccinated must wear a mask when interacting with staff or the public unless:
- Employee is working alone outdoors or at least six-foot distance can be maintained
- Employee is working in separate private office space
- Employee is in a vehicle by themselves
Employees requiring an accommodation should contact Human Resources.

Thanks for all you do. Stay safe and be well!
